NICEIC has been the electrical contracting industry's independent voluntary regulator for over 45 years.

In January 2005 tough controls on the standard of electrical installation work in homes across England and Wales were introduced by bringing electrical safety into the Building Regulations.

According to government reports, defective electrical installations in UK households cause around 30 deaths and over 1,150 serious injuries every year. NICEIC welcomes the government's decision to finally clamp down on the cowboys who cause these deaths and is advising homeowners to make sure they only employ competent NICEIC approved electrical contractors.
